The changing of the leaves and brisk breeze in the air can only mean one thing: a new season of American Horror Story, of course.
The award-winning horror anthology series created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk is officially back this week with its 12th season, dubbed American Horror Story: Delicate.
Here’s everything we know about the new season, including how to watch American Horror Story: Delicate without cable.

What is American Horror Story Season 12 about?
American Horror Story: Delicate is based on the 2023 novel Delicate Condition by Danielle Valentine. This marks the first time an AHS season has ever been based on a book.
Delicate is a story about a Hollywood actress named Anna (Emma Roberts) who is desperate to start a family. She goes through multiple rounds of IVF before finally getting pregnant. But because this is a horror story, Anna is convinced something sinister is after her and her unborn child. As such, chaos ensues.

Season 12 will be split into two separate parts. Part one of AHS: Delicate premieres on Sept. 20 at 10 p.m. ET on FX, while part two is set to debut sometime in 2024. Episodes will air every Wednesday for five weeks, for a total of five episodes in part one.

Can I watch American Horror Story: Delicate online for free?
There are a couple different ways you can watch AHS: Delicate online for free. First up, FXNow is the online counterpart to the FX cable network. If you have a friend or family member willing to share their cable login with you, head over to FXNow on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET, choose Live TV from the top menu, and sign in via your TV provider. This also works if you have a Live TV streaming account login (such as YouTube TV or Sling TV).
If you don’t mind tuning into episodes the following day, a Hulu account is your best bet. And lucky for you, if you’ve never subscribed to Hulu previously, you can watch the entirety of AHS: Delicate part one for free with the streamer’s generous trial. Sprint customers and students also have a couple of options to score a free subscription.

How to get Hulu for free
Best for newbies: Hulu 30-day free trial
New to Hulu? The streamer offers an extremely generous 30-day trial period when you sign up. If you activate this free trial (which is valid for both the No Ads and Basic plans) right around Sept. 21, which is when AHS: Delicate starts streaming on Hulu, you can stream all five episodes of part one before your trial is up. Just be strategic in when you sign up and be sure to cancel before your 30 days are up to avoid charges. If you decide to keep your subscription after the trial, you’ll have to pay $7.99/month for the Basic plan with ads or $14.99/month for the No Ads plan.
Best for Sprint customers: Hulu Basic (with ads) annual subscription
Sprint customers, as long as your Sprint Unlimited plan is active and in good standing, you have free access to Hulu Basic (with ads). If you switch your plan or cancel, your Hulu subscription will be suspended. Just head over to the Sprint (which is now T-Mobile) website and choose “activate now” to get started.
Best for students: Spotify Premium for Students with Hulu
Got a valid student ID? You have a few great options for tuning into American Horror Story Season 12. Our favorite is Spotify Premium for Students, which comes with access to Hulu (with ads) for free. You’ll get a free 30-day trial when you sign up, which means you get both Spotify Premium and Hulu for no charge for an entire month. Once your trial ends, you’ll pay just $4.99/month for both services. The only catch? You’ll need a valid .edu email address to prove you’re actually a student.
Another great option is a Hulu student account. While there’s no free trial, it only costs students $1.99/month for a Hulu subscription. That means you can watch all of AHS: Delicate part one for just $1.99, then cancel before any further charges.
Other ways to watch American Horror Story without cable
If you don’t qualify for any of the free deals above, there are still a few other ways you can save money. It all depends on your personal preferences in the age of streaming. If you want to tune in live, a live TV streaming service will be your best bet — although it will also be the most expensive.
If you’d rather watch Season 12 of American Horror Story and be on your way, then a single month subscription to Hulu is probably more up your alley. You won’t technically save any money this way, but you won’t waste any either. If you’re more about getting the most bang for your buck, then the Disney bundle (which includes both Hulu and Disney+ or Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+) can save you up to 49%. Obviously, you’ll pay more overall, but the sheer amount of content at your fingertips is totally worth it.
Here’s a breakdown of your best options, depending on preference.
Best for long-term viewing: Hulu (with ads) annual subscription
If you don’t qualify for the Hulu free trial, you still have a chance to save by opting for the annual subscription rather than monthly. It knocks the monthly cost down from $7.99/month to $6.67/month — that’s about 16% in savings by paying for a whole year upfront. With a long-term subscription, you can rewatch every previous season of American Horror Story, as well as American Horror Stories, and tune into the new season at your leisure.
Best bundle deal: Hulu + Disney+ (with ads)
Disney’s Duo Basic bundle remains one of the best deals in the streaming world. You get access to all of the content on Hulu and Disney+ for just $9.99/month — that’s just $2 more than paying for Hulu on its own. You can even add ESPN+ into the mix for a couple bucks more at just $12.99/month with the Disney Trio Basic bundle, which saves you a total of 49% each month.
While it’s not the best option for someone looking to only watch American Horror Story and move on, it’s an excellent deal for those looking to expand their streaming library on a budget.
Best live TV streaming service deal: Hulu + Live TV
If you don’t have cable, but still want to tune into AHS: Delicate live on FX, Hulu + Live TV is running a sweet deal through Oct. 11. While it usually runs you $69.99/month, the live TV streamer is offering a $20/month discount for your first three months, knocking the cost down to just $49.99/month. Unlike cable, you’re not sucked into any type of contract. That means you’re free to cancel whenever you please.
What’s extra impressive about a Hulu + Live TV subscription is that you’ll also get access to the Hulu library, as well as Disney+ and ESPN+. That’s a ton of content for $49.99/month. And if you miss out on an episode live, you can always find it in the Hulu library the next day. Two birds — one stone.
Runner-up live TV streaming service deal: YouTube TV
Perhaps our favorite live TV streamer out there, YouTube TV offers about 10 more channels than Hulu + Live TV and includes unlimited cloud DVR storage and the ability to hold up to six accounts and three concurrent streams. It’s “the closest thing to a good cable-like experience without the astronomical prices and ridiculous contracts,” according to Mashable shopping reporter Leah Stodart.
Plus, you can get it at a discounted rate for your first three months — just $54.99/month for three months following a free trial.
