Giancarlo Esposito is returning to AMC, the home of his Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, in Parish, a thriller set in New Orleans.

Esposito, himself a gearhead, stars as Gracian “Gray” Parish, a family man and proud owner of a luxury car service in The Big Easy. Watch the first full trailer above and check out the poster below.

Speaking at AMC’s TCA press tour Tuesday, Esposito said New Orleans is a “city of demons.”

“It’s a city that has a majority of churches, more than any other city in America,” he said. “It’s a city with bars on every corner, where you can party until 4 in the morning. It seems like a place where you have to make a choice, and our show’s a lot about the choices that Gracian Parish makes, whether they be good choices or bad choices and how they affect his family. It was so much about the family and community, not only the city, but also of two different men and their families and how they tend to deal with the circumstances surrounding them. This was a city that was the right one.”

The series launches March 31 on AMC and its AMC+ streaming service after the finale of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Lived.

Esposito, who said that the show has taken around eight years to make it to screen, teased that it could move to other cities if it is renewed for a second season.

“There are other cities like this, and who knows where we could go in the future,” he added, “but right now, the world seems to be a place where you struggle with the ghosts of your past and the ghosts of your future.”

Parish follows the eponymous character, whose son is violently murdered and his business collapses. An encounter with an old friend from his days as a wheelman resurfaces old habits, sending him on a high-stakes collision course with a violent criminal syndicate.

Based on British series The Driver, the series also stars Zackary Momoh as New Orleans-based Zimbabwean gangster The Horse; Paula Malcomson as Rose, Parish’s wife and mother to his two children; Skeet Ulrich is Colin, an old acquaintance to Gray; Bonnie Mbuli plays Shamiso Tongai, The Horse’s smart and protective older sister; Ivan Mbakop as The Horse’s brother, Zenzo; Arica Himmel as Gray and Rose’s daughter Makayla; and Dax Rey as The Horse’s son Luke. Bradley Whitford recurs as Anton, the charming and intelligent face of industrial business in Louisiana who covertly heads a criminal organization. His dispute with The Horse’s human-trafficking ring puts him at direct odds with Parish. Amanda Brugel guest-stars as Sister Anne, who has a mysterious past with Gray.

It is produced by AMC Studios, in association with A+E Studios and Thruline Entertainment.

Danny Brocklehurst serves as co-creator and executive producer. Eduardo Javier Canto and Ryan Maldonado serve as showrunners and executive producers; Giancarlo Esposito also executive produces alongside Brocklehurst, Poyser, Theo Travers, Jolyon Symonds and David Morrissey for Scribbler Films, Josh Kesselman, Danny Sherman, Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson Red Production’s Nicola Shindler.
